Dad
I came into this world without a thing to hold
Or a right to claim as my own.
But my dad took me, sheltered me and protected me
Because I belonged to him.
He sacrificed So that I could live.
He shared with me riches, Though they were rightfully his.
He gave his time to me, more than I could have known.
For he thought about me when my thoughts were far away.
He paved a way before me, and took note of where I'd been. He taught me
how to live, And showed me the best paths to take.
When I was confused, He spoke to me words of wisdom
But set me free to decide for myself. He helped me build upon a firm foundation.
I can still hear his words to me, echoing in my mind.
I always knew I was loved. I could always trust in him.
My dad: A life of silent commitment. And a commitment of unfailing love.
Dear God, who could have known that when I was looking at him, I was really
looking at you?
